3. The technologies needed to achieve the SDGs — clean energy, climate adaptation tools, sustainable agriculture, health innovations — are knowledge-intensive and rely on IP protection to move from research laboratory to global market.

4. IP rights act as a key incentive for both private and public investment, ensuring that innovators can capture value from sustainable technologies while supporting their large upfront development costs.

5. By facilitating licensing, partnerships, and technology transfer, IP helps scale and disseminate sustainable technologies across borders and sectors — including to developing and emerging economies.
